Mum Shaming – the new social media trend

Have you heard of mum shaming? I’m afraid I hadn’t until a few days ago.

It is a new social media trend that is slowly making its way around the internet. Mum shaming is when mothers provide their own guilty confessions to others in a photo over the internet. The confession is written on a piece of paper and held in front of the confessee for the camera.

I think it’s a bit of harmless fun, providing you can laugh yourself. However, I also think people could be judged on their parenting skills, when in actual fact they are very good parents. Here’s an example of a mum shaming in action:

When I read up about this social media concept, I came across this great blog called The Rollergiraffe. I quite like her take on all of this – http://rollergiraffe.com/2013/08/30/the-rollergiraffe-on-mommy-shaming-2/
